HOBBY CORNER   Radio-controlled boats
Home

Here at Hobby Corner we have a wide selection of boat kits. You may want
a simple ready made motor or sail boat from NIKKO, some with rechargeable
batteries and charger, and in the case of the sail boat, an instructional video.
These ready-to-go boats suit beginners of all ages or someone looking for a novelty
gift and are best suited to boating ponds or swimming pools. A step up from these
come the ready to run boats and yachts, with various models from IRVINE
and RIPMAX, some with all the gear fitted, some allowing you to apply the
finishing touches yourself. Most are electric powered but increasing in
popularity is the I/C or engine-powered boat, with its own pull-start system,
just like the model cars. I/C powered boats are a little more fussy to operate
and maintain, but reward the owner with longer run-times.
Be careful though
because they don't have reverse and its easy to get stuck in the reeds !!

Electric power is a lot easier and with the help of a 12 volt car-battery
and charger you can keep the boat running all day. However,
it is advisable to use a few different battery packs to minimise
the  risk of overheating. The next stage up is the complete kit.
These are becoming a little more difficult to obtain but if you
look at our catalogues from
  IRVINE  RIPMAX
 PERKINS  MANTUA  TOYWAY or AMERANG
you will see there is a nice selection which we can obtain.
Very popular has been the return of the old Precedent range
of boats, allowing the builder freedom of choice in all
aspects of the build from a reasonably priced range of kits.

Finally we come to the static kits, these are showpiece models for the enthusiast. Basic starter sets lead on to true works of art that take many hours to complete but provide a great deal of satisfaction. We keep a selection of BILLING static boats in stock but there are many more available at your request. On the boat-building side we keep rudders, props, prop shafts, universal joints, water scoops and power plants. We keep radio gear on 27 or 40 megahertz, which are the recognised frequencies, and of course enamel paint for a fine finish.
