Hobby Corner, established in 1975 and based in
Wrexham, North Wales, specialises in the fields of radio controlled
model aircraft, both helicopter and fixed-wing, cars (including
"Scalextric") boats, and Hornby train sets. As a family-run
partnership, we pride ourselves on our professional service, with
the emphasis on customer care and support. From your initial
enquiry, we are there to offer advice and assistance, not only with
your purchase, but right through to our extensive after-sales
service.
Father and son, Ian and Kerin Taylor are here to help you. Their
combined experience ranges from the Wakefield rubber-powered
free-flight and control-line, through to home-built rubber-powered
radio control model aircraft, hovercraft, powered boats, and early
helicopters. We are able to give advice on our full range of
products through the experience gained in the model world, ranging
from balsa wood to the superb radio-control systems, engines, both
2 and 4 stroke pre-packed kits, ready-built planes, helicopters,
boats, cars, trains and much more.
In the field of model railways, we specialise in the OO gauge, used
by Hornby train sets. This includes the ‘RailRoad’ range of train
packs, designed for new collectors, including a selection of
wagons, carriages and locomotive. For younger children, this
includes ‘Bartello’s Big Top Circus’ train set. Other Hornby train
sets include the best selling Harry Potter Hogwarts Express set,
limited edition Premier boxed sets, and the modern Virgin Pendolino
set with full digital controls.
We also offer a range of limited edition models, tracks and control
panels – including the Hornby DCC and a range of control panels by
Gaugemaster. To make your layout more realistic, the perfect
addition to this is our wide range of buildings and scenics. These
include Hornby’s Skaledale range, such as gravel and grass and a
range of building kits. We also offer the Superquick range of
building kits, which have gained a reputation among modellers for
their variety and realism.
For the model aviator, our wide range of radio controlled model
aircraft includes a range of virtually indestructible planes and
simple gliders, all available in kit and assembled form. Our model
helicopters come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with an assembly
service available.
Our shop is about 1.5 miles north from Wrexham Central and General
railway stations (served by regular services to Chester and
Merseyside), and the bus station (which links the town with the
rest of Mid and North Wales).
